Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information GuideGo collects when you use our website and services (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to travelers, guides, and anyone else who creates an account with GuideGo.
2. Information we collect
Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text) when you register. If you provide a phone number, we store that too.
Guide information: for guide accounts, the details submitted during verification — bio, years of experience, languages, specialties, the cities you operate in, and identity/credential/vehicle documents you upload for review. Verification documents are stored in a private, access-controlled location, not the public bucket your profile photo would use, and are only viewed by authorized reviewers.
Booking information: when in-platform booking is available, details of the bookings you make or receive — dates, party size, pricing, and messages exchanged through the Service.
Payment information: GuideGo does not store your full card number. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider, and we retain only what's needed to reconcile a transaction (e.g., an amount, a status, and a reference ID).
Usage information: standard technical data collected automatically when you use the Service — pages visited, browser/device type, and similar log data.
3. How we use information
To operate the Service: create and manage your account, connect travelers and guides, process bookings and payments once that functionality is live, and let guides and travelers verify and communicate with each other.
To verify guides: review the identity and credential documents a guide submits before their profile becomes publicly visible.
To keep the Service safe: detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and investigate reports of abuse.
To communicate with you: respond to support requests, and send account or booking-related notifications.
4. How we share information
Between travelers and guides: when you book (or apply to guide) an experience, the counterparty sees the information needed to fulfill that booking — for example, a traveler's name and party size, or a guide's profile and verification badge.
Service providers: we use third-party infrastructure to run GuideGo — a database and file-storage provider (Supabase) for account and booking data, and (once live) a payment processor for transactions. These providers process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes.
Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GuideGo, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies
GuideGo uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service securely. We don't currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep account and booking information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. Verification documents are retained only as long as needed for guide verification and compliance purposes.
7. Your choices and rights
You can review and update most of your account information directly in your account settings. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the email below.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law — for example, the right to know what personal information we hold about you, or to request its deletion. We'll respond to a verified request consistent with those rights.
8. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access controls that limit who inside GuideGo can view sensitive data like verification documents. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If we learn that we've collected information from someone under 18, we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date below when we do.
